I have lived abroad for five years and spent the past 12+ travelling the world. Over these past 12+ years I have travelled to 35+ countries, countless cities and spent more time than I can count living out of a backpack.
I began travelling when I was 18 years and I have not stopped since. Travel have always been something that has just a “thing” in my family. I am very fortunte that my parents travelled from a very young age and I always knew it was something I wanted to do too. It was never seen as something that was odd or unusal.
My very first trip abroad was a week long trip to Port Villa, Vanuatu with my older sister. Let’s just say, apart from owning passports we knew very little about how to actually travel. The first night away we decided to have dinner in our hotel. When we asked for the bill we just saw the price at 6,000!! We both panicked and decided we had no idea how we were going to pay for this (we were both poor university students after all!). After a little while, we discovered it was actually 6,000 vatu which converted to roughly $60!
Since receiving that dinner bill, I have spent a month volunteering with Gibbons in Thailand, moved to Scotland with no more than $500 and a one way ticket, swung off a cliff in New Zeland, Sky Dived in Australia, been pickpocketed in Rome, seen the Northern Lights in Finland and had Bali Belly in Kuta!
Where to now……
Along the way I have so learned so much about planning adventures, budgeting whilst on the road and saving (well more than $500) for a trip. One of the most important things I have learnt along the way is about myself!
I have decided that it is time for me to share the lessons that I have learnt and the amazing places I have been with other like minded people. I would love for you to join me on my adventures!
For now……Happy Travelling
